1: I had
made a decision when I was less than 18 years old
In 1980s,
I was a 17 and half years old boy, and graduated from the secondary school.
In August
1983, the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination
has announced the results. I took the
result note came to the Wong Tai Sin Police Station- police recruitment center, applied to be a police constables.
Whatever
the result was, I would not to continue my academic, and let my mother understood that was my decision.

Because my
father, he was gone about 10 years ago.

time, I had an ideas was

money; the purpose was let my mother
living better.
When my
mother heard her child had made a decision
to ended schooling, she felt unpleasant, told me my siblings
already had a jobs, and decided let me to continue academic, no need to work soon.
Because I am the youngest son of the family, so, my siblings have same opinion with my mom, wants me able to continuous academic. But I still
went to the police
recruitment center.
One month later, I received a notice to arranged came to
Wong Chuk Hang police
training school on the selection process, including physical fitness test and
interview.
At that time, the Hong
Kong Government introduced the proposal《Green
Paper on the Further Development of Representative Government in Hong Kong》began
consulting.
At the interview the interviewer Chief Inspector asked me: “what hottest topics in Hong Kong right now?”
For the
interview I have plenty of preparation.
I put my
views and the information received from the newspapers explained with fluently words.
As a

One month
later, I received instructions to undergo medical examination before training
at the Police Training School.

一九八零年代,我在十七歲半的時候中學會考畢業,在派發會考成績當天,就拿著會考成績單走到黃大仙警署的警察招募中心投考警員。

是為了已經離去了的父親!

最初,當媽媽聽到這個決定的時候,她並不認同,還對我說兄姊們都出來做事了,有能力讓我多讀一點書,不需要這麼快便出來工作。
因為我是家中幼子,大家都有像媽媽的想法希望我能夠多讀一點書,但是,自己還是走入了警察招募中心。
一個月後,我接到通知要到黃竹坑警察學校接受甄選程序,包括體能檢測和面試。
那年剛好是香港政府提出《代議政制綠皮書》,那位負責面試的總督察問我當時社會最熱門的話題是甚麼?
我對面試的預備很充足,於是就把從報紙上看到的資料加上個人意見,以很流暢的字句說出來。
結果;面試之後,被安排到隔壁的房間「打手指模」;我面試合格得到取錄了!
一個月後,再接到通知接受進入警察訓練學校之前的「身體檢查」。
當一切投考程序完成了,最後,就要接受香港政府的背景審查。這個審查程序,是由當時的警察政治部負責。我要交出家庭所有成員的資料,包括已經過世了的父親!又因為當時我未滿二十一歲,需要媽媽陪同前往政治部接受面談,還需要媽媽在同意書上簽名。
從走入警察招募中心開始計算,到進入警察訓練學校受訓,時間流走了半年!那時候,自己的薪酬是$2,240;應該沒有記錯!
